In the on-site gallery, the exhibition is presented in two sections: “Jewelry and Body Objects” and “Vessels and Metal Objects”. The aesthetic viewpoints of contemporary metal art are better illuminated with the variations in the display works.
Jewelry and Body Objects
In this section there are works by Yulin Wang, Tsai-suan Wu, Tsang-suan Lin, Tingjun Chen, Wen-miao Ye, Fangjin Ye, and Haohan Chang. These artists share an interest in jewelry design that explores composite media. They have profound study on the materials and investigate the relationship between jewelry and objects on our bodies. Their ideas focus on the group-individual identities between nature and man-made, hidden objects, or our perceptions of images and disease. To reflect and examine these issues, the artist combine traditional creative production methods with 3D printing and computer based technology.
Vessels and Metal Objects
This part of the exhibition features works by Yi-an Wang, Yuhang Jiang, Meng-ru Yu, Chingyi Chang, and Jian-ching Liao. This group of artists pay special attention to the abstract form of the vessel. Through their creative use of emotion, metaphor, and anthropomorphism, they outline a range of critical thoughts regarding the creative process of making, which includes ideas concerning subject-object relationships, the relationship between the object and the self, the consciousness of existence, and the status of human civilization versus natural ecology. Their intention is to identify, extract, and formulate concepts and ideas, emotions and material perceptions hidden in the vessels and objects.
